A beautiful, colorful work by the Corsican-born painter Max Agostini depicting a view of the entrance to the port of Cassis with the lighthouse and the town.
The artist uses a palette of bright, vivid colors, which brings his work to life and beautifully captures the light of a summer day in Provence.
The sea appears to be in motion thanks to the masterful brushstrokes and the subtle shades of the water.
 

 
A leading figure among contemporary Impressionists, the painter MAX-AGOSTINI was born in Paris in 1914; his grandparents were of Corsican origin. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and discovered a true talent for Impressionism.
Drafted into the French Army for five years at the start of World War II, MAX-AGOSTINI was held as a prisoner of war for three years.
In the postwar period, he gained recognition as an excellent portraitist and landscape painter in Châteauroux, where he worked for several years. Later, he settled in Gargilesse in the Berry region and in Provence.
In January 1997, he was still painting his finest works just days before his hospitalization.
He is recognized worldwide as one of the greatest colorists of his time.
