Beautiful work by the Nice painter Alfred-Justin Blondeau which represents a view of the entrance to the port of Nice at sunset. In the foreground we can see fishermen in their boat pulling up their fishing nets. In the background, we can see the pier with its lighthouse. 
The artist uses a color palette that perfectly transcribes a sunrise or sunset in the Mediterranean. 

In 1875, at the Paris Salon, the artist presented a work entitled "Effet de soleil couchant" (Effect of a setting sun), it could be our work. 
We can also compare our work to another similar view of the artist in a smaller format that has entered the art market. 

A specialist in large-format landscapes and seascapes, the artist mainly focuses on painting views of Nice and its surroundings. His works are kept in particular at the Museum of Nice.
