Signed lower right with the artist's stamp,
Luminous canvas by the Marseille painter Augustin Carrera which represents a corner of the Alpilles in summer under an overwhelming sun.
The painter has wonderfully transcribed the light of Provence with harmony in the color tones.
Student of Alphonse Moutte in Marseille then of Léon Bonnat and Henri Martin at the Ecole des Beaux-art in Paris where he was noticed as a talented artist. Augustin Carrera exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1904 to 1936.
He participated in the international exhibition of 1937 and obtained a gold medal. The Druet gallery in Paris dedicated an exhibition to him in 1910.
He was the author of the decorative panels for the colonial ministries and the two ceilings of the Marseille Opera in 1924.
Augustin Carrera was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1920 and officer in 1928.
Dimensions: 60 x 73 cm without frame and 65 x 78.5 cm with its gilded wooden frame.
