Rare statue in régule depicting “Mireille,” based on the model exhibited on Place Mireille in Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in June 1913.


This heroine from Frédéric Mistral’s work is depicted by the artist in a poignant and sorrowful manner: “Mireille, staggering, struck by heatstroke in the stony desert of La Crau, walking toward the church at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. ”

This statue was produced in a limited edition, of which few have survived to this day. In 1913, the statue was offered for 120 francs, with the option to add a green or red marble base for an additional 15 francs.
Our statue is a model featuring the optional red marble base.


Condition: Very good condition—no restoration, no damage.
