A native of Gordes in the Vaucluse department, Joseph Milon began by studying law and became a lawyer, then a solicitor at the Court of Appeals in Aix-en-Provence. Alongside his studies, he took painting classes with Honoré Gibert, curator of the Musée Granet, and sculpture classes with Henri Pontier. Around 1910, he resigned from his position to devote himself to art.
He then exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1923 to 1939 and in the provinces. Notably, he decorated the Villa Corsica in Aix with paintings and sculptures.
Settling in Aix, he painted the city and its surroundings and rubbed shoulders with local painters: Louis Gautier, Edouard Ducros, Joseph Hurard, and Achille Emperaire.
 

 
His works are now housed in various museums, including the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Cannes, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Carpentras.
