" Portrait of Marie Henriette SYMON de la CARTERIE
"

Oil on oval canvas, formerly relined,
Unsigned,
Various annotations in ink on the back on the frame concerning the character,

Beautiful and rare portrait from the end of the 18th century which represents the portrait of Countess Marie Henriette Symon de la Carterie from the Breton nobility.
Our work was executed after 1772 since the canvas shows the coat of arms of the two families, the lion of the SYMON family and three red pine cones of the TALHOUËT family, surmounted by the count's crown.

Marie Henriette Symon de la Carterie was born on November 16, 1745 in Nantes and baptized the same day in the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame.
She married on October 27, 1772 in Nantes in the church of Saint-Vincent with René Claude de Talhouët-Grationnaye (1733-1795) Count of Talhouet-Grationnaye, infantry colonel.

From this union were born 5 children, three of whom survived:
- Juliette (1776-1866)
- Henri (1786-1828)
- Justine (1791-1867)

Marie Henriette Symon de la Carterie lived at the Château de Leslé in Pont-Scroff in Morbihan.

Nb: Old restorations, without impact, are visible on the back of the canvas.

Dimensions: 61 x 49.5 cm without frame and 61 x 89 cm with a beautiful carved and gilded wooden frame from the end of the 19th century.
